Welcome to the official website of Chicago based writer/photographer Andy Argyrakis. Enjoy your visit and here’s the latest and greatest for Summer 2010:
Andy kicked off the season with a trip to New York City to cover the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at The Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York for Hear/Say Magazine, including press room photos and quotes from Phil Collins and Genesis, ABBA, The Hollies, Carole King and The Bee Gees.
Other recent Hear/Say stories include a cover interview with Vampire Weekend, plus features on Owl City and Angels & Airwaves.
He also traveled to New Orleans to review and photograph Jazz & Heritage Festival for Concert Livewire, which included performances by Lionel Richie, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Dr. John, Irma Thomas, Lena Prima (Louis Prima’s daughter) and a newly reunited Simon & Garfunkel.
Concert Livewire also sent Andy to cover Broadway In Chicago’s “Billy Elliot” opening night red carpet, led by soundtrack creator Elton John, alongside appearances by Oprah Winfrey and Jesse Jackson.
On an Illinois Entertainer note, his recent cover stories include Bernard Sumner from Joy Division and New Order, plus an Experience Hendrix tour preview, featuring interviews with Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Hubert Sumlin, Susan Tedeschi and Ernie Isley (of Isley Brothers fame).
Current interviews for IMAGE Chicago include back to back cover stories with “Girls Next Door” star Holly Madison and an exclusive photo gallery and commentary on Alicia Keys.
Andy also added a new column to his coverage arsenal in the form of “Hot Free Downloads” for AOL’s Wallet Pop, which has thus far included entries on Nine Inch Nails and Smashing Pumpkins, plus members of Linkin Park and Radiohead.
And as always, there’s Andy’s current concert review and photography schedule, which includes shows with Black Eyed Peas, Peter Gabriel, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Michael Buble, Mariah Carey, Elton John, The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, Air, Straight No Chaser, Ludacris, Huey Lewis & the News, Robin Thicke, Blessid Union of Souls, Alice In Chains, Collin Raye, Editors, Yes and many more.
